Welcome to NWPASports.com, a Mercer County-centric web site maintained by longtime local media member "Professor" Ryan Briggs. Briggs works with Cumulus Broadcasting's News/Talk 790 and Sports Radio 96.7 on a regular basis as a play-by-play commentator for the stations' high school sports coverage.

He also works as a color analyst, studio host and studio producer for the stations. Additionally, he worked as the long-term substitute host for "The Ron Errett Show" on 790 WPIC December 2020 through September 2021.

In March 2019, Briggs called the West Middlesex girls basketball team's Class 2A state championship game in Hershey. Three months later, he called West Middlesex's state title victory in Class 1A baseball at Penn State.

In 2020, Briggs called the Wilmington-Southern Columbia PIAA Class 2A football title game in Hershey.

He has also performed play-by-play and analyst duties for the NCAA Division III football and basketball playoffs.

During the rest of the week, Professor Briggs is sports information director at his alma mater, Grove City College. He is in his 23rd year at Grove City.

In March 2020, Briggs worked the respective NCAA Division III Championship Tournaments for both men's and women's basketball. In spring 2024, he worked as public address announcer for the Presidents' Athletic Conference baseball and softball tournaments, as well as the NCAA Division III baseball regional at Case Western Reserve. He then handled public address duties for the 2024 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship in Eastlake, Ohio.

Overall, Briggs has been covering Mercer County-area athletics since 1994.
