Fourteen Mercer County high school football players earned Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State honors Tuesday, December 28. Here are the biographical nominations that were submitted:

Class 1A

Mitchell Mason, DE-OT, Reynolds, (6-2, 220, Senior) – Three-year starter on both sides of the line for two-time defending District 10 champion Raiders. First Team All-Region 1 selection on offense and defense. Only Class 1A player to earn All-Region on both sides of the ball in mixed-class league (1A-2A-3A). Helped clear the way for 2,000-yard rusher Jalen Wagner. Raiders averaged 7.7 yards per carry and 359 total yards per game this season. Help lead defensive effort that blanked unbeaten Cochranton in D-10 title game as Reynolds allowed six first downs and 109 total yards.

Haydin McLaughlin, HB-S, Reynolds (6-0, 180, Junior) – Shared Mercer County lead with six interceptions this season. Helped Reynolds rank second in 12-team Mercer County with 24 takeaways. Ranked ninth in county with 628 rushing yards and eighth with 74 total points. Averaged 9.2 yards per catch for District 10 champion Raiders. Led Reynolds with 378 receiving yards and four touchdown catches. Second on squad with 18 receptions, averaged 21.0 yards per catch. Second Team All-Region 1 at defensive back and punter.

Jalen Wagner, RB-LB, Reynolds (6-0, 175 Junior) – Led Mercer County with 2,399 yards from scrimmage. Ran for 2,063 yards and 25 touchdowns while averaging 10.7 yards per carry. Posted No. 2 mark on Reynolds’ all-time single-season rushing list. Ran for 100 yards or more 10 times, including five games of 175 yards or more. Led D-10 champion Raiders this year with 21 catches for 336 receiving yards. First Team All-Region 1 pick on offense. Posted 398 total scrimmage yards (347 rushing, 51 receiving) and six total touchdowns in 56-27 win over Eisenhower in District 10 playoffs. Also intercepted three passes as a linebacker on defense.

Class 2A

Anthony Jackson, LB, Farrell (6-0, 200, senior) – First Team District 10 Region 1 selection at linebacker. Ranked third on Farrell defense with 76 tackles. Posted two sacks, seven tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and an interception. Helped Farrell post four shutouts in 2021. Integral part of Steelers defense that allowed 8.4 points and 127 yards per game. Also ran for 174 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries during 2021 season.

Anthony Stallworth, TB, Farrell (6-0, 200 senior) – All-State Class 2A selection in 2020. First Team All-State Class 1A in 2019. Farrell’s all-time leading rusher with 5,384 yards and 66 rushing touchdowns. Ran for 2,333 yards and 30 touchdowns this season for District 10 Class 2A champions. District 10 Region 1 Player of the Year. Recorded 12 100-yard performances this year. Ran for 322 yards and four touchdowns in D-10 2A title win over defending state runner-up Wilmington. Led Mercer County in rushing yards and scoring (208 points). Ran for 1,768 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore, helping Farrell to 2019 state title. Drawing interest from numerous FCS schools.

Omar Stewart, Jr., WR-LB, Farrell (6-2, 195, senior) – First Team All-Region 1 selection at both linebacker and wide receiver. Led District 10 champion Steelers in yards per catch (20.9). Caught 22 passes for 460 yards and nine touchdowns. Had five catches for 171 yards and two touchdowns at Karns City in snow-filled state quarterfinal. Also posted 41 tackles for Farrell defense that allowed only 8.4 points and 127 yards per game. Receiving interest from numerous Division II programs.

Taidon Strickland, ILB, Farrell (6-0, 210 senior) – All-State Class 2A selection in 2020. First Team All-State Class 1A in 2019. Anchored Farrell defense from the middle linebacker position for the third straight year. Recorded 114 total tackles, including 16 for loss. Forced 11 fumbles for Farrell defense that allowed only 8.4 points per game and only six points in the first quarter all season. He scored on a 37-yard fumble return at Wilmington. Strickland also started at fullback for the state semifinalist Steelers, clearing the way for 2,000-yard rusher Anthony Stallworth. He added 139 rushing yards, 119 receiving yards and four two-point conversions. All-District 10 Region 1 First Team selection at linebacker.

Preston Williams, OG-DT, Farrell (6-2, 370, senior) -- First Team District 10 Region 1 at guard. Helped lead the way for senior tailback Anthony Stallworth, who ran for 2,333 of Farrell’s 3,522 rushing yards this year. Helped Steelers to District 10 Class 2A title and berth in state semifinals. Three-year starter on interior of line. Helped anchor offensive line of team that accumulated 582 points and 5,009 total offensive yards this year. Also played defensive tackle, helping Farrell hold opponents to 69 rushing yards per game and 2.1 yards per carry.

Kylon Wilson, WR-CB-KR, Farrell (5-9, 170, junior) – A threat in all three phases of the game, Wilson finished the season with 23 total touchdowns – 13 touchdown receptions, six touchdown runs, two interception returns to the end zone and two kickoff return touchdowns. He led Farrell with 36 catches for 658 yards while adding 245 rushing yards on only 14 carries (14.5 average). Wilson also had three interceptions, along with 24 tackles and three forced fumbles for the state semifinalist Steelers. He opened the 2021 season with an 82-yard kickoff return for touchdown against Greenville. First Team All-Region 1 at all-purpose back and cornerback.

Class 3A

Gage Dlugonski, C-DT, Grove City (6-2, 265, senior) – Anchored veteran Grove City offensive line this season, helping Eagles to first District 10 title since 2017 and first trip to state quarterfinals in 10 years. First Team District 10 Region 3 selection. Helped Grove City average 365 yards per game. Eagles allowed only 14 sacks in 13 games despite attempting 247 passes as a team. Began season at right tackle before moving to center in Week Three. Added six tackles for loss, a sack and 32 tackles from interior spot on Grove City’s four-man defensive line.

Joey Fazzone, OT-DE, Hickory (6-2, 240, senior) – First Team All-Region 3 selection at offensive tackle and defensive end. A disruptor on Hickory’s three-man defensive line Fazzone led Hickory with seven sacks and finished with 81 total tackles. Hickory ranked second in Mercer County in total defense (220.9 yards per game) and yards per play (4.3) allowed. His work at offensive tackle allowed quarterback Logan Woods to throw for a Mercer County-high 2,270 yards and 28 touchdowns this season. As a junior, Fazzone started on Hickory’s state quarterfinalist teams in football and baseball and Hickory’s state finalist boys basketball team. Receiving interest from PSAC and Presidents’ Athletic Conference schools in western Pennsylvania.

Ja’On Phillips, WR-CB, Sharon (5-9, 170, senior) – District 10 Region 3 Player of the Year. First Team All-Region on offense and defense. Caught 50 passes for 879 yards and nine touchdowns. Led Mercer County in receiving yards and catches per game (5.6). Second in the county with nine touchdown catches. Caught eight passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns in 40-28 win over previously-unbeaten Fort LeBoeuf September 24. Had 95-yard interception return for touchdown in season opener at Corry. Led Sharon with four interceptions. Had two picks in 14-7 Week Three win over archrival Hickory. Averaged 31.9 yards per kickoff return and 30.3 yards per punt return in 2020. Earned First All-Region on both side of the ball as a junior.

Jackson Pryts, TE-ILB, Hickory (6-4, 215 senior) – All-State selection in 2020 after helping lead Hornets to 3A state quarterfinals. Led Hickory with 113 total tackles this season. Also intercepted two passes. Helped Hickory rank second in Mercer County in total defense (220.9 yards per game) and yards per play (4.3) allowed. Ranked second in Mercer County with nine touchdown catches. No. 4 in Mercer County with 37 receptions and fifth with 618 receiving yards. First Team District 10 All-Region 3 at tight end and linebacker. Credited with 370 career tackles as four-year starter.

Ramarion Whitehead, WR-FS, Hickory (6-3, 175, senior) – All-State Class 3A honoree in 2020. Shared Mercer County lead with six interceptions. Caught 53 passes for 825 yards and nine touchdowns. Also averaged 17.8 yards per punt return and 29.8 yards per kickoff return, totaling 436 combined kick return yards. First Team All-Region 3 on offense and defense. Hickory’s all-time leader with 138 catches for 2,502 receiving yards. Set school record with 55 catches in 2020. Averaged 24.7 yards per catch as a sophomore. Accumulated 1,546 all-purpose yards in 11 games this year.
