SPORTS RADIO 96.7/NEWS TALK 790 WPIC RELEASE PRESEASONS BASKETBALL POLL
HERMITAGE -- Sports Radio 96.7 (WLLF) and News/Talk 790 WPIC has compiled its 2021 preseason basketball poll for two District 10 regions involving Mercer County area teams. The station's four regular broadcasters, Bob Greenburg (sports director/color analyst), Mark Slezak (lead play-by-play commentator), Chris Burtch (color analyst) and Ryan Briggs (play-by-play commentator/lead writer) submitted weighted ballots. Erie Times-News sports writer Tom Reisenweber, a frequent contributor to the stations' high school sports coverage throughout the year, also voted in the polls.
In eight-team regions, the first-place team received eight voter points and second place received seven points, with the scale descending to one point for eighth place.
The stations will begin their 2021 season coverage Friday night with a boys basketball doubleheader from New Castle on Sports Radio 96.7. Farrell and Sto-Rox will air at 6 p.m, followed by Sharpsville-New Castle in the nightcap.
